In this week, I read The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me in A PUFFIN BOOK series. This is written by Ronald Dahl. He is famous for the movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I had read his novel in Japanese when I was a child, so I was glad to find his novel in the library and decided to read his story in this week to remember my childhood ☺️
The characters of this story are a giraffe, a pelican, a monkey, and one human boy, Billy. There animals found a window-cleaning company by taking advantage of each characteristic to earn money. Billy meets them and comes to work at the company as their manager. One day, they give a job to clean a very big house which has 677 windows. This is the big chance for them!
In the end, I want to introduce my favorite scene of this book.
‘The Monkey stood on the window-sill and did a jiggly little dance. He was so skinny he seemed to be made only out of furry bits of wire, but he danced wonderfully well, and I clapped and cheered and did a little dance myself in return.’
I feel that a monkey and Billy are very cute because they dance each other😍 And I want to dance with them!
